Calm the Itch Soap with Jewelweed and Oatmeal

Item Description

Coconut oil, organic palm oil, olive oil, organic soybean oil, distilled water infused with jewelweed, plantain, and calendula, sodium hydroxide*, castor oil, oatmeal, organic aloe vera. Wt 4 oz

I made this soap for my husband, who seems to be a magnet for poison ivy. Jewelweed, which ironically grows adjacent to poison ivy in the wild, is said to be an almost instant relief to the itch of poison ivy. According to Wildman Steve Brill,

http://www.wildmanstevebrill.com/Plants.Folder/Jewelweed.html

jewelweed is a "virtual panacea for skin irritation, if you accidentally touch poison ivy and apply jewelweed to the affected area before the rash appears, you probably won't get the rash." You don't need to have a skin condition like poison ivy to use Calm the Itch. The extra calming properties of calendula, plantain, oatmeal and aloe make this a soothing bar for anyone with sensitive skin.

Testimonial: I just want to thank you again and tell you how happy I am to have discovered your amazing soap called "cure (sic) the itch" it is the ONLY thing that has cured my 3 year olds eczema! I have tried everything from prescription steroids to different soaps, lotions, detergents, and soaks. Your soap is truly amazing and I enjoy many of your other types for myself! , Emily W., NY

* *Sodium hydroxide is a necessary ingredient to mix with oil to make natural and gentle soap. All soap is made with sodium hydroxide. However, once the soap begins to harden, sodium hydroxide levels reduce until they are no longer present. The soap you purchase from Vita Pulita will no longer contain sodium hydroxide.
